What you are saying is only true when you enable port port isolation, and I assume anyone who configures that understand that two devices on the same network can talk to each other without going through a router first. In a standard router-on-a-stick config, devices on the same VLAN will not have to go through the default gateway either. Yes, I know you can configure port isolation/private VLANs/, but that's specifically why I said "out of the box" earlier in the thread.
